In a bid to find new ways to improve users’ online experience, Twitter launched a paid subscription service called Twitter Blue. It has started in a limited number of countries, but is expected to expand in the future.
Membership allows users to access exclusive features and more. But what exactly is Twitter Blue and how much does it cost? Is it even worth the money? Keep reading to find out.
What is Twitter Blue?
Twitter Blue is a monthly subscription service that provides exclusive access to premium features and customizations. Twitter Blue was first launched in June 2021 in Australia and Canada. It later expanded availability to include the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
Twitter Blue does not replace the free version of the app, which remains available to users in supported countries. Blu is available on the web and iOS in those select regions.
Undo Tweets: With a Twitter Blue subscription, you’ll have the opportunity to undo a post you didn’t mean to send. You can also preview the content to make sure your post is free of errors.
Reader Mode: Twitter Blue has a “Reader Mode” feature, which makes reading threads more like an article. It also looks more natural since profile photos, usernames, timestamps, and so on have been removed from view.
Bookmarking Folders: With the free version of Twitter, you can bookmark individual pieces of content. However, Twitter Blue allows you to organize things into folders.
Edit Tweets: You can edit your Tweets for a limited amount of time after posting them.
Custom Navigation: You can choose which icons to have in your bottom navigation bar.
Custom app icons and themes: You can choose from a range of colors and options to customize how the Twitter app icons and app themes look on your device.
Headers: You’ll have access to shortcuts to the most shared news articles across your Twitter network, so you can find what interests you.
NFT Profile Picture: You can set your Twitter profile picture to an NFT you own.
1080p Video Upload: You can share videos in Full HD.
Available features may change depending on your location and device.
How much does Twitter Blue cost?
Twitter Blue costs $8.00 per month for web or $11.00 USD per month for iOS. It was offered on all systems before November 2022 at the standard $4.99 USD price and $7.99 Musk originally bought Twitter.
The price hike includes the controversial blue verified checkmark that appears when customers are approved. There are also some “coming soon” features for those who buy into the higher price tag, including prioritizing their content and seeing fewer ads.
Previous customers who purchased prior to the price increase will need to upgrade to the higher price or lose their subscription to Twitter Blue.
Is Twitter Blue Worth It?
For some people, the idea of getting paid to use social media may not sound like a good idea. Twitter Blue has some useful new features that users will definitely enjoy, such as the ability to undo or edit tweets. Everyday users who haven’t made a purchase yet can be sure to get Blue with the benefit of being verified.
Shortly after its launch, we talked about why we’re not big fans of Twitter Blue right now. But, Twitter has since added the ability to edit tweets for US customers, which makes it a bit more valuable.
It might be worth trying and forming your own opinion. Looks like Twitter is changing a lot, and you might want to be a part of it. It all depends on how often you use Twitter and whether the features are useful for how you use the platform. If you don’t like it, you can cancel your subscription at any time.
Twitter Blue: Subscriptions Worth Considering
Twitter Blue is the platform’s biggest step into the world of paid subscriptions. Despite limited success so far, there are big plans for it.
While the future for Twitter is uncertain, using Twitter Blue will give you a new layer of customization to your online experience.
